LIVING NATURE
Living Nature's certified natural Active Brightening Serum is your powerful and effective solution to minimise the appearance of uneven skin tone and pigmentation while nurturing and protecting skin. Illuminate and rejuvenate your skin with all natural ingredients for a glowing complexion.
Excessive sun exposure, pregnancy hormones and acne scarring can all contribute to overproduction in melanin, resulting in dark spots, hyperpigmentation and an uneven skin tone. One of the most common global skin conditions, hyperpigmentation is also one of the most difficult to treat. Many topical serums and creams formulated to target this issue contain harsh synthetic ingredients, which can disrupt your skins natural processes and lead to additional issues such as dry and sensitive skin.
Crafted with world-renowned botanical actives, Living Nature has formulated a safe, gentle and effective solution with their new certified COSMOS natural Active Brightening Serum. Illuminate your skin with the power of active Atlantic Kelp and tropical Pracaxi Fruit Seed Oil, which work to lighten and minimise the appearance of pigmentation, even out skin tone and improve skin elasticity and resilience. Collagen boosting Hyaluronic Acid and Rosehip Oil work to enhance skins regeneration process, New Zealand native Harakeke Flax Gel softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and anti-oxidant rich Vitamin E fights free radical damage.
Suitable for all skin types.

When can I expect to see results?
As the skin can take between 28 to 45 days to regenerate (depending upon age), a minimum of 4 weeks regular twice daily treatment is required before results can be expected. It is important to note that some skins may take longer, depending on the severity of the pigmentation and how long it has been visible, together with the fact that some types of pigmentation may never lighten due to the formation depth. It is very difficult to predict which pigmentation will react and which will not. Some people may simply experience a general brightening and balancing out of skin tone.
Will this product lighten my pigmentation and surrounding skin?
Effective skin lightening can be achieved by using Living Nature’s Active Brightening Serum twice per day for a minimum of 4 weeks. Results may vary depending upon severity of pigmentation and skin type and depending upon how long it has been present. UV exposure, illness, inflammation, stress and skin ageing may also affect the results.
In additional to pigmentation lightening, trialists reported a general lightening and evening out of their skin tone, as well as some skin firming, which resulted in a healthier refreshed looking skin.
It is important to note that some types of pigmentation may never lighten, even with known whitening products, and depending upon skin type. Depending upon which skin layer the pigmentation is located, will also affect the results. Pigmentation on the lower skin layer, the dermis will be more difficult to treat the pigmentation of the upper skin layer, the epidermis.
What causes pigmentation?
Our skin gets its colour from a pigment called melanin. General variations in skin pigmentation among different racial groups are due to differences in melanin production and deposition.
Changes in our normal skin colour can be caused by a variety of factors including hormonal imbalance (pregnancy), illness, injury, skin diseases, inflammation, skin ageing and exposure to UV light. Darkening of skin, whether generally, or in patches or spots, is caused by an excess production of melanin. Melanin production is an oxidation process catalysed by an enzyme called tyrosinase.
What can I do to lighten my pigmentation?
In addition to using Living Nature’s Active Brightening Serum twice per day (for a minimum of 4 weeks), it is important to protect the skin from UV radiation, which is the main cause of pigmentation in the first place. Maintaining a healthy whole foods diet, drinking lots of water and getting enough sleep will also be of benefit. A diet high in very spicy food can cause the problem to be more severe.
Any hormonal imbalances will also result in pigmentation forming or difficulty in achieving a lightening result. Hormonal imbalance will need to be medically corrected prior to expecting any lightening results.
Can I use this product if I have sensitive skin?
We are confident that anyone with sensitive skin will be able to use our product without experiencing any irritation, however, as every person is different, we do advise patch testing prior to starting any new skin care. This can be done by applying product to the inner arm area for 24 hours (morning and evening). If the area is clear, then apply a small amount of product to under the chin area for 24 hours (morning and evening). If the area is clear, commence normal product usage.
Hyaluronic acid, one of the key ingredients is incredibly gentle, calming and soothing on the skin. It has been found to be beneficial for sensitive as well as redness-prone skins.
Will my skin be more sensitive to the sun?
Unlike some traditional products and ingredients that have been used for decades to help lighten pigmentation but often have negative long term results, the ingredients found in Living Nature’s Active Brightening Serum utilise powerful natural properties that produce effective skin lightening without any skin irritation.
It is important to note, that clinical studies have found that the skin lightening benefits of Pracaxi Seed Oil, one of the key ingredients in Living Nature’s Active Brightening Serum, is 8% more effective if used on skin that is protected from UV rays on a daily basis, resulting in 29% reduction in melanin content in just 9 days versus only 21% if no sunscreen is used. Is the product safe for use during pregnancy?
Yes, the product and its ingredients are perfectly safe for use during pregnancy, however you should always consult your doctor before use or if you have a specific medical condition and if you have a known allergy to certain ingredients, in addition to this, we would always advise you to carry out patch testing prior to using any new products.
Why does hormone imbalance cause skin issues and pigmentation?
Hormones are chemicals produced by different glands and tissues as part of the endocrine system. These hormones are then delivered to various organs and tissues throughout the body via the bloodstream. They are responsible for regulating a lot of processes that take place in the body. They regulate things like your heart rate, sleep cycles, appetite, metabolism, sexual function, body temperature, general mood and stress levels.
If your body produces too little or too much of a certain hormone, perhaps at certain times of the month, this will result in a hormone imbalance and can cause serious effects on the body. Hyperpigmentation of the skin is one of the symptoms commonly caused by this imbalance.
Causes of hormone imbalance are many and varied, but include pregnancy, menopause, breastfeeding, diabetes, stress and medications, to name a few. This condition would essentially require medical testing and treatment to correct, however there are some lifestyle changes that you can make to assist, like losing weight, keeping a healthy diet, avoiding stress and getting enough sleep. In terms of helping to prevent pigmentation it is vital to wear UV protection daily.
What is the difference between Active Brightening Serum and Firming Flax Serum?
Both serums do have anti-ageing benefits, however their specific benefits and target areas are different. The key difference is that our Firming Flax Serum is formulated as an anti-ageing serum, which results in rejuvenating and firming the skin, helping to smooth and soften fine lines and wrinkles producing a more youthful looking complexion. Our Active Brightening Serum is specifically formulated to lighten and even out skin tone, minimising the appearance of age/brown spots, while soothing, firming and refreshing the skin. The Hyaluronic acid also assists in retaining a high level of skin moisture, improving skin elasticity.
